Vintage Pillowcases

So what do you do with vintage pillowcases? I found five fabulous pillowcases at a fabulous price this weekend while yard saleing (is that a word?). I have found a few great tutoritals, but I'd like to hear your ideas before I get started....

Please leave a comment on my friend's blog! :)

So, one of my good friends in real life has one of the cutest blogs I've seen, we'll call her the Amazing Mrs. S. Being the horrible, terrible bloggin' buddy that I am, I've never ever posted on her blog (uh oh). And she called me out on it last night! :) (in a fun, teasing manner!) I do read her blog everyday, I'm just not much of a commenter.... So, I'm owning up to it....I, Jessica, am a horrible person! To make up for it, I'd like to send all of my readers (I think that would be a total of 2 (?) people) over to Frills Fluff and Trucks to say hello to the Amazing Mrs. S. (she's also considering learning how to quilt...we could all give her a little nudge, yes? I offered to teach her if she'd just come and decorate my house!)

My Best Friend

Jason isn't just my husband, he's my best friend. He's working so much this summer and I miss him terribly. The sun coming through our skylight makes my boys look absolutley angelic. He is the best Daddy in the world, and from the looks of this picture, I'd say Carter agrees!

Making Progress & My Baby's Growin' Up

Last week was preschool Graduation. Since when do preschoolers graduate? Ben was so proud of himself. He's a big Kindergartner now. At the end, the teacher presented the "Class of 2021" and I nearly fell out of my chair. Here is my baby "graduating" and here he is with his special friend, Emily.

Karen & I had our first mini sit 'n sew today. Our goal is to do this every week this summer (except when she's out of town!). I finished up my Lemonade Doll Quilt Swap (only two and a half weeks late...), so I'm glad to have that done and off in the mail.

I also made some progress on Ainsley's quilt. Isn't she adorable? She happens to be Emily's little sister (see above picture of Ben's special friend). I am using the String X pattern's from Bonnie's website.

Quilts Of Valor Challenge!

A fellow blogger and quilter, Alycia, has made it her life's mission to give every wounded soldier a quilt! Not a bad mission, if you ask me, but its a tough one! She has done amazing things with The Quilts Of Valor Foundation. She got her Mom's sewing group hooked, she's involved her children's school and she already delivered a van full of quilts in May.

The Chaplin at the Army hospital kindly asked her if she thought she could bring 100 QUILTS next time? Being the big hearted, giving person she is said "Sure!". So, several of us have been on a mission to help her meet that goal. Then, today someone mentioned to her that she should try for 400 QUILTS to cover every soldier in that unit.

That's a lofty goal! There will be another delivery of quilts scheduled for May 2009, but she may try to squeeze a smaller delivery in this Fall.

Let's all try to help Alycia meet (or exceed?) her goal! Take a peek at her blog and let you know your "in"

Locks of Love

I've decided to grow my hair out and donate it to Locks of Love. I have a long way to go, but I'm looking forward to being able to donate something tangible to a child in need (besides a quilt, of course!) :)

Goodies in a box....

When we got home on Sunday there was a box waiting on our front porch and it was goodies from my Mom!!! How cute is this sweatshirt and flip flops? I've been wearing them both for the last two days - ok, I guess its time to do laundry....

My mom owns an embroidery shop in KY - ironically, I didn't learn how to sew from her (she doesn't even know how!)

Welcome to Blogging, Karen!!

One of my good friends has entered blog world! :) Karen and I each have two boys and they stair step in age. I have an (almost) 3 yo, she has a 4 yo, I have a 5 yo, and she has a 6 yo. And I have to say they all four get along famously.

Karen is a sewing/quilting friend (she actually is the one that got me into sewing/quilting!) and we often schedule playdates and let the boys run wild while our sewing machines just humm away. We're setting aside one day each week this summer as a sewing/playday. So expect lots of eye candy as I know I'll have at least four hours each week to sew!! Yay Me! :)

So, run on over to Karen's Blog and tell her hello and welcome! Thanks!

Beach Trip 2008

As I've mentioned before, we head out to Long Beach, WA each Spring with DH's family to celebrate Gramma Todd's birthday and Mother's Day. Its a great 3 day weekend that I look forward to every year. The house we stay at is about 100 yards or so from the beach and we walked down to the sand n surf several times a day. Carter wasn't so sure of the crashing waves (that is foam, by the way - it looks like snow, doesn't it?). He was also very upset about the sand on his bootsWe took the dog and he had so much fun and was so exhausted by the time we got home he's been asleep for pretty close to two whole days now! :)

Gramma Todd loved her quilt. I made the Pineapple Blossom from Bonnie's website. It was a fabulous weekend, but I'm glad to be back home and hopefully start enjoying some summer weather!

Back in town with lots of pictures....

But I'm not going to show them all at once! :) What fun would that be? I hope to steal some time this evening to completely update my blog and get myself back on the bloggin' wagon.

We had a wonderful time on our weekend away with DH's family and his Grandmother loved the quilt. Here is a picture of it completely finished, just before I packed it into the box.

Running on Full Speed

I'm still around and I'm checking everyone else's blog regularly, I just seem to be neglecting my own! :) I've been running on full speed for about three weeks now and we're going away this weekend for a much needed vacation! We go to the beach with Jason's family every Spring and its a great 2 1/2 days to remember to slow down and relax from time to time. Gramma Todd's quilt is finished, but I can't take a picture of it as its still in the dryer.

I've also decided to change my UFO checklist to a WIP (work in progress) list. I'll get to that someday! :P

I'll get pictures as soon as the quilt is finished and get them posted!
